Financial District/Greenway

Welcome to Financial District/Greenway

The Financial District is bordered by the Waterfront and the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. As the name suggests, it is the location of many of Boston’s high rise office towers, many which serve as headquarters for some of the most well-known banks and investments houses in the country. While there are some condominium residences, and some services to accommodate the residents, the Financial District can be quiet during non-business hours and on weekends.

That said, for those who chose to live close to where they work, the Financial District is very near some of the liveliest neighborhoods in the city: the Seaport, the Waterfront, and The North End. Those areas are buzzing with restaurants and bars – both new and trendy and long-standing and old school.

The Greenway, named for Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy - matriarch of one of America’s most famous political families - is a lovely, 17-acre swath of green that beckons residents and workers on nice days. Created on the former site of the Expressway that was demolished during the Big Dig, the Greenway was a very welcome addition to this area when it opened in 2008.
