Welcome to East Boston
East Boston was, at one time, several small islands. A major landfill project connected the land masses and this neighborhood is now a peninsula – with great views of the urban skyline and plenty of waterfront, all just a short commute to downtown via the Blue Line. The Sumner Tunnel also connects East Boston to Boston. While the area has been long been considered one of Boston’s more affordable neighborhoods, East Boston is seeing prices rise as more and more people recognize its many desirable qualities.
East Boston encompasses several unique neighborhoods: Eagle Hill, Jeffries Point, Maverick Square, and Orient Heights. One of Boston’s few beaches, Constitution Beach, is located in Orient Heights.
The area is dotted with single and two-family homes, and a plethora of ethnic restaurants, including the famous Santarpio’s Pizza. There is also ample green space. Residents walk or cycle along the East Boston Greenway, which runs from the Waterfront to Constitution Beach, and nature enthusiasts enjoy the 350-acre Belle Isle Marsh.
East Boston is home to Logan Airport.
